les pays d'aix et les calanques
The Calanques and Cassis...
Linking Marseille to Cassis, there are close on 20km of marked pathways meandering through the white limestone cliffs which plunge into the Mediterranean.
Known as 'Les Calanques', these cliffs offer spectacular views and are part of a protected reserve which stretches over 4000 and can be discovered either on foot or by boat (departures available from both Cassis and Marseille).
A bewitching and magical site, the Calanques are a paradise for scuba divers and rock climbing aficionados, as well as for nature lovers who will discover here unspoiled views and rare plants and life-forms…

Cassis: a small fishing harbour
and fabulous tourism destination.
cassis
Located between the majestic Cap Canaille and the Massif des Calanques this small fishing harbour of 8000 inhabitants (in winter...) is famed for its beauty and for the quality of its wines. A visit here will guarantee you will fall in love with this fabulous part of the Mediterranean coast; it is even better to come to Cassis outside the traditional tourist periods.
